NEWLY QUALIFIED SOCIAL WORKER (ASYE IN CHILDREN'S) - Laura
Growing up in the Borough, I felt that I wanted to work for Sutton and give something back to young people and their families as I have a passion around supporting families to make positive changes.
Having grown up in the Borough, I have worked locally since. However, I was offered the opportunity to be based in the Referral and Assessment Team for my final placement. Following that, I was offered the opportunity to work as a Restorative Family Coach until I started as a Newly Qualified Social Worker.
I love working for Sutton because not only do I get to work with diverse families, I get to undertake various training opportunities. What I most like about working for Sutton, is my colleagues and manager's easy to approach attitude. As a result, I have felt supported and encouraged to reach my fullest potential! The managers also identify your strengths and allocate your cases where this will show.
Since working for Sutton I have found it really inspiring to support families to come up with their own solutions since delivering restorative practice, which I consider to really empower families.
Post qualifying, I would like to stay in Sutton because my managers and colleagues have not only made me feel welcome and part of the team, I feel valued as a person
